Adoption Social Worker

£22.00 to £28.00 per Hour

To contribute to the effective work of the Adoption Team and to be the key workers for relinquished children and non agency work.

This will include recruitment, training, assessment and support of adopters in line with adoption standards.

You will carry out recruitment, assessing, preparing, training and providing on-going support for substitute families.

You will work alongside members of Area Teams offering support and advice on family placement matters and attending appropriate departmental meetings as delegated by Adoption Team Manager.

You will provide post-adoption or post placement support.

You will carry out co-working with groups of prospective adopters.

You will support and prepare the assessment of children relinquished by their parents for adoption and take on the key social work role.

You will be a professionally qualified, registered social worker adhering to the GSCC codes of practice, particularly within adoption, and national occupational standards with proven post qualifying experience and with a commitment to own continuous professional development and development of best practice.

You will be patient and professional when faced with difficult situations. You will be confident in communicating with other team members and external clients in meetings and providing advice when it’s required; you will be competent in using ICT packages relevant to the role to store and present information. You will keep up to date with new relevant legislation and share your knowledge with your team and clients as and when required.
