Job description

Support Worker

 To assist the Registered Manager in running a 3 bed residential children's home in all aspects appropriate to the Statement of purpose of the home.
 To undertake household chores, meal preparations, laundry duties and general house-keeping maintenance as well as assisting young people with education and home-work when required.
 To assist in formulating assessments, the Care Plan and After Care Plan for each young person.
 To provide a caring and supportive environment for children and young people, who respects and affirms their racial, cultural and religious identity and lifestyle.
 To assist in returning young people to their families or help them to move on to alternative carers or independence as part of the Care Plan and After Care Plan.
 To help field social work staff, parents and carers in the design and implement of care plans for each child/young person, taking into account the views of the young person.
 Organising, providing and participating in stimulating activities for young people during their leisure time.
 To act as a link/ key worker or back-up to individual children/young people.
 To maintain high quality childcare standards.
 To help to undertake assessments and formulate clear aims and objectives for each child/young person as necessary.
 Must be child-friendly, able to build relationships with children and young people, have a sense of humour and able to have fun with them, whilst maintaining boundaries.
 Good communicative skills both verbally and written is extremely essential in this role.
 Report writing skills and abilities are essential in this role in order to write and prepare reports for external professional bodies working in conjunction with the home.
 You will be expected to attend meetings and appointments with or on behalf of the children or young people.
