We are currently seeking an experience SEN practitioner to join the team at our Harpenden Day Nursery for a 3-6month contract period. You will be responsible for providing one-to-one care for a child within the setting. You will be required to provide a high level of care to one specific child on a daily basis. Experience working with children who have sensory impairments and require tube feeding would be ideal.As SEN practitioner you will be a Key person carrying out all related responsibilities in building relationships with one specific child suffering from special needs
Tell me more about the responsibilities of a SEN Practitioner within Asquith?
• You will provide high standards of quality within the Nursery including the environment, resources and experiences offered to child
• Observe, support and extend learning for the child
• Plan appropriately for the child using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum for guidance.
• Ensure that children are kept safe and that staff understand and when necessary follow safeguarding procedures.
• Ensure that the nutritional needs of the child is met and the Food Safety Regulations are complied with. Some tube feeding will be required
• Work with area SENCOs, EYFS advisors, health professionals, local Sure Start and outside agencies programmes as appropriate.
• Undertake a shared responsibility for health, safety and cleanliness throughout the nursery
What experience and qualifications must I have to apply?
• Minimum Level 3 qualification or equivalent
• Experience working in a SEN specific role
• Experience providing one-to-one care
• Understanding of EYFS
• Previous childcare experience
• Possess leadership qualities
• Excellent communicator
