My client is a high quality provider of professional care to individuals with epilepsy, learning disabilities and associated specialist needs. It works in close partnership with clients and their families to provide services in the community. Reporting to the Registered Managers you will be responsible for, under the direction of the Director of Operations for assuring that all Registered Care Homes are meeting IHL standards. At present we have five Registered Care Homes, involving 90 staff and c 35 service users. The company anticipates further growth in the future at other locations in the UK.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Area Manager will be expected to:

*  Monitor service provision to ensure compliance with the Care Standards Act 2000 and the National    
         Minimum Standards (Care Homes for Adults 18 - 65)
*  Undertake Regulation 26 visits throughout IHL's Registered Care Homes, including the production of   
         professional reports and ensure action is taken to resolve issues as necessary.
*Support Managers in their role including client care, staff management, finance and administration, quality assurance and home management (including maintenance and health and safety), when directed to do so by the Director of Operations
*Deliver internal training in relation to Registered Care standards as required.
*Assist other managers in their management, administration, set-up and opening of all new establishments.
*To stand in for the Deputy Director of Operations/Director of Operations in his/her absence
*Acting as my clients representative and liaising with external agencies, advising and assisting the management team in areas which affect organisational development and strategy, maintaining good relations with, and facilitating the integration of service users into the local community.
*On occasion adopt the interim role of Manager of a unit, where such a location has no other manager or where the current Manager is failing to meet IHL standards. In such case the Area Manager will be responsible for managing the unit in line with relevant statutory requirements including the Care Standards Act 2000, Health and Safety and Environmental Health legislation
*Act as IHL's named person in respect to Safeguarding issues.
*Support and investigate the resolution of complaints as necessary.
*Help to assess the reasons why a unit may not be meeting IHL standards and ensure action is taken to rectify where necessary. 

It is expected that the Area Manager will:

*Observe at all times the Company's Equal Opportunities policy and ensure that services are delivered in an equitable, non-discriminatory manner
*To undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade as required

This social worker will be based in busy frontline team who require two social workers to work in the intake and safeguarding team. This is a very supportive team with established and experienced social workers who enjoy and take pride in their work. They are looking for someone with good analytical and assessment skills, ability to effectively communicate with children and their parents as well as professions. Ability to manger own caseload whilst meeting deadlines. Experience of completing S47 investigations, core assessments, instigating care proceedings, understanding of the legislative framework and its impact on our practice.  

The Successful Social Worker will have GSCC registration and a current CRB and 2 years post qualification experience.

The duties of the appointed social worker will be :

1.To recruit, train and assess prospective foster carers in accordance with regulations and standards.

2.To write and present complex reports including assessment reports to the Fostering Panel, and other forums.

3.To devise marketing and publicity information targeted towards attracting foster carers to meet differing needs/ages of children.

4.To supervise the work of, identify and respond to training needs and carry out annual reviews of foster carers to ensure high quality childcare.

5.To be involved in the development of policies, procedures and Practices in relation to all aspects of fostering.

6.To attend and contribute to planning for children looked after and assist in identifying foster carers which best meet their need

7.To maintain accurate and up to date records in accordance with the Departmental Policy on Recording.  This will include both paper and electronic records.

8.To ensure that clients are given the necessary advice and support to make use of the Departmental Customer Comments and Complaints procedure.

9.To work collaboratively with colleagues within the local authority and from other partner agencies.

10.To work as a member of a team and act as duty social worker on a rota basis and as required by the Team Manager.

11.To undertake all duties and interactions with employees, partner providers and customers fairly, without unlawful discrimination and with due regard to the Council's Diversity &amp; Equality in Employment and Service Delivery policies.

12.To keep abreast of all legislation, guidance and standards relating to the work.

13.To access and make use of supervision, appraisal and training in accordance with departmental codes of practice.

14.To attend Departmental and inter-agency working groups contributing to the development of Children and Families Services as a whole.

15.To undertake any other duties commensurate with the general level of responsibility of the post.

The successful social worker will be GSCC registered and have a current CRB and minimum 2 years post qualification experience in the area of Fostering.

Main duties of appointed social worker:

1.To undertake  needs assessments and risk assessments  within  a multi-disciplinary framework with service users experiencing mental health difficulties and provide an effective and supportive response.
2.To offer a supportive, comprehensive and needs-appropriate Care Planning and Care Co-ordination service  in accordance with the principles of the Care
            Programme Approach (CPA) for service users on Enhanced  Level CPA.
3.        To offer a Care Management service where appropriate in order to assist service
users achieve maximum independence in the community, for example, by providing supported accommodation and/or domiciliary or respite/rehabilitative packages of care.
4 .To  investigate  the need for service users to be accommodated  under  relevant  Community Care  legislation and guidance.
5.To  supervise and ensure the regular review of all allocated clients who are placed 
           in residential accommodation provided by  statutory, voluntary or private 
           organisations, with a rehabilitation focus.
6.To be  an active  member, on a rota basis, of a multi-disciplinary  Duty  assessment service, which functions as a single-entry access point for all CMHT referrals.
7.To undertake Carers' Assessments in accordance with the Carer and Disabled
           Children's Act 2000 and to provide  appropriate  support where required.
8.To investigate cases of alleged neglect or ill treatment of clients and make
           appropriate care plans to safeguard  their well-being in conjunction with  other  statutory and voluntary agencies, in accordance with the services' Policy and    Procedures on the Protection of Vulnerable Adults.
9.To prepare Social Circumstances Reports and attend  Mental Health Review
           Tribunals and Appeal Hearings.
10.To undertake  the full range of duties and responsibilities of an Approved Social
Worker under the 1983 Mental Health Act (where appropriately trained).

The Successful social worker will have GSCC registration and a current CRB and 2 years post qualification experience.
